What We Know So Far About the New Ineos Fusilier All-Electric SUV
Ineos Automotive unveiled the new Ineos Fusilier, adding detail to the zero-emission model line first announced in 2022. Here’s everything we’ve learned about the electric 4×4 vehicle so far.
The Fusilier is a Fully Electric 4×4 With Big Off-Road Capabilities
The promise from Ineos Automotive is to deliver a zero-emission model that still can perform at a
world-class level off-road, without compromising on-road driving. The Fusilier will undergo rigorous off-road testing in Austria’s Schöckl mountain, near the development partner Magna’s vehicle assembly plant in Graz. Note that Ineos partnered with Magna for the engineering on the Grenadier and Quartermaste. The contract manufacturer also builds the Mercedes G-Class, Jaguar I-Pace, and Fisker Ocean.
The announcement also divulged details about a Fusilier hybrid that will be a mix of powertrain technologies with a small petrol engine powering a generator to maintain the battery charge level. This is the set-up in BMW’s range-extended i3 so that would make sense to follow suit with the engine partnership. A hydrogen-powered Grenadier is also ready for production but requires expanded refueling infrastructure before Ineos will add it to the line up.
Ineos Fusilier Exterior Design
The new 4×4 is slightly shorter in length and lower in height than the Grenadier, built on a bespoke battery skateboard platform with steel top hat and underbody, an aluminum doors and closures. So far the exterior pain options include white, silver, black, blue, olive, modern green, and of course, Donny Grey. (The others don’t have the clever names yet.)
What Does the name Fusilier Mean?
The Ineos brand continues the tradition of using traditional British military monikers, following Grenadier and Quartermaster. This name was originated by the French Army in 1670, with four fusiliers deployed to each reginent, each with the superior flintlock musket. When Can I Buy the New Ineos Fusilier?
For those in early on the Grendier, this will sound familiar. If this SUV is your cup of tea, you’ll be waiting a while as it will go sale in 2027. No word yet on price or when pre-orders will start.
